Well we haven't posted on here for quite a while and that is because those who are part of the communications team have had GCSEs/A-Levels to study for. No need to worry though because we are back to our 'online' lives!
The last camp we went on was a joint camp during a weekend in May at Ferny Crofts, where we were joined by Bear Grylls! He took a tour around the campsite and the WSJ lot showed off their skills to him on their certain bases. He seemed very interested in the catapult that was built by Kenneth's team. James E got a necker and book signed by him which will go towards fundraising events in his district. Bear visited most of the bases and the odd selfie was taken with the Chief Scout himself. Apart from the added excitement of the special guest, we once again did various team building activities and topped a good days' work off with a joint campfire with some of the beavers that were also camping at Ferny Crofts. So all in all, it was a smashing weekend!
Our next camp is this weekend down at Cricket Camp. Unfortunately the Scouts from Guernsey are unable to join us for this camp but we will be seeing them next time, when we go to them and have a weekends camp in September over on their Island. So we don't know the full line up for this weekends camp but we are expecting some pioneering, more cooking, some new wide games other than the popular game of 'manhunt', designing hoodies as well as finalising the badge design. We are hoping the weather stays dry for this activity packed weekend!
The week after the above camp, three Explorers from The Tea and Biscuits will be off to Gilwell Park to take part in a media weekend with other Scouts/Explorers from every UK Contingent. The aim of this camp is to prepare these Scouts/Explorers with what they need to say during interviews, talks and presentations when out in Japan. We wish them the best of luck at the weekend and make the most of the fancy dress night!
That's all for now!
