At the beginning of September we were lucky enough to head over to Guernsey for our training camp. This was the 2nd time we've had the complete unit together, we also had the opportunity to welcome our newest member of the unit.
The plan for the weekend was to be action packed and that's exactly what the weekend was for the participants. We wanted to show them the island so a lot of the weekend involved seeing many of the sights of the island. The Hampshire participants flew over on the Friday evening as the sun was setting and took a scenic route around the coast of the island to Rue Maingy Scout and Guide HQ, just as the sun was setting.
On the Saturday each patrol was sent of with a Guernsey member to guide them to specific places on the island, which enabled everyone to see the island and learn about their rich history. This was then followed by a walk to the beach where they were all treated to a BBQ and chips. They then walked back to the campsite where we then had a bonfire and relaxed ready for Sunday.

On the Sunday it was an early-ish wake up to allow them to get to the coast ready for the tide to be right for the patrols to go coasteering. This was also then followed by games on the beach.
They then returned to pack up the camp and there was an brief opportunity for the Guernsey parents to finally meet the Hampshire leaders. We were all then hurried off to the airport to return to Hampshire.
